Japanese 225: First shrine visit

元日に、みんなで八坂神社に初詣に行った。
Ganjitsu ni, minna de Yasaka-jinja ni hatsumode ni itta.On New Year's Day, we all went to Yasaka Shrine for the first shrine visit of the year.
参道は人でいっぱいで、なかなか進まなかった。
Sandō wa hito de ippai de, nakanaka susumanakatta.The approach to the shrine was full of people, and it didn't move much at all.
五円玉を入れて、二回礼をして、二回手を打って、お願いをする。
Goen-dama o irete, nikai rei o shite, nikai te o utte, onegai o suru.Put in a five-yen coin, bow twice, clap twice, and make a wish.
おみくじを引いたら、「大吉」だった。
Omikuji o hiitara, "Daikichi" datta.When I drew an omikuji, it was 'Daikichi' (great blessing).
「今年はいい年になるね」とおばあさんが言ってくれた。
"Kotoshi wa ii toshi ni naru ne" to obāsan ga itte kureta.'This year will be a good year, won't it?' the old lady said to me.
